Prof. Anar Ahmadov

Anar received his B.A. from California State University, and Ph.D. in Mathematics from University of California, Irvine (USA) in 2006. He also was visiting Ph.D. students at University of California, Berkeley and Princeton University. Between 2006 – 2009, he was Visiting Assistant Professor at Georgia Institute of Technology, University of Zurich (Switzerland), University of Vienna (Austria) and J. Ritts Assistant Professor at Columbia University. He also was J. Simons Visiting Professor at Harvard University and Humboldt Research Fellow at Bayreuth University (Germany). He is currently Professor of Mathematics at the University of Minnesota, TwinCities. Anar research work is in the areas of symplectic and low dimensional topology and algebraic geometry. Professor Ahmadov has received numerous awards and honors from the USA/Canada and Germany, such as Sloans Research Fellowship (2012), Simons Research Fellowship (2018), and Guillermo E. Borja Research Award (2013). He was selected a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society for contribution to core problems in topology in 2020.
