Prof. Garib N. Murshudov

Garib N Murshudov received his B.Sc. and M.Sc. from the Applied Mathematics department of Baku State University, and Ph.D. from the Institute of Crystallography, Moscow, Russia. He was a postdoc at the University of York (UK). In 2001, he was awarded the Wellcome Trust Senior Fellowship and established his research group. In 2011, he moved to Cambridge to lead a Computational Structural Biology Research group at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology. He is a member of EMBO and Fellow of Royal Statistical Society. The focus of his research is on the development of Computational Bayesian statistical tools for modelling and validation of structural biology experimental data. Garib is passionate about teaching in various parts of the world, especially where it is needed most. He also leads a Computational Structural Biology Laboratory in the Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology of ANAS. His main interest in Azerbaijan is to teach and inspire young scientists.
