Mahammad Valiyev

Mahammad Valiyev received his two dual diploma BSc and MSc degrees from Heriot-Watt University and Baku Higher Oil School, and now, is doing a PhD at the University of Southern California. His major is petroleum engineering and currently, he is working on two research projects: 1) development of deep-learning based workflows for history matching, 2) development of deep-learning based predictive models for hydraulic fracture characterization and optimization. During his undergraduate and graduate student years, he also had a chance to get an exposure to the oil industry, through multiple internships at major and national oil companies as a reservoir engineer and geoscientist, and also, at a service company. Additionally, for the past 6 years, Mahammad has been an active member of Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), participating in the Young Talents program (2016-2018) and taking a role of a team lead during Petrobowl Global Finals at SPE ATCE, in Calgary, Canada in 2019. Mahammad is always eager to take his part in giving back to society, through outreach events, such as short trainings, seminars/webinars and invited talks.
