Prof. Yagut Allahverdiyeva-Rinne

Yagut Allahverdiyeva obtained a PhD degree in Azerbaijan. Currently she is a full professor in the Department of Life Technologies at the University of Turku, Finland. Her research interests lie primarily on understanding the molecular bases and regulation of cyanobacterial, algal, and plant photosynthesis in order to improve photosynthetic efficiency. Her applied research interests lie in application of biotechnology for production of sustainable biofuels and solar-driven chemicals.

She is a director of the Nordic Center of Excellence ‘NordAqua’ (www.nordaqua.fi), funded by NordForsk Bioeconomy program and the Biocity Turku Research Programme “Advanced Bioresources and Smart Bioproducts – Towards Sustainable Bioeconomy”. She also belongs to
SUNERGY CSA, a large scale EU initiative on fossil-free fuels and chemicals. She is a coordinator and partner of several EU, Nordic and national research networks.
